Cleveland Cavaliers wing De’Andre Hunter’s name is an easy trade target. The Cavaliers have passed the second apron and their roster needs a shakeup, and Hunter has been struggling. That, coupled with the fact that Hunter has cleared his Instagram of any mention of the Cavaliers, would lead you to believe he’s a potential move.
Matt Moore reported in his Substack Hardwood Paroxysm that he had heard rumors that Hunter wanted out. He later corrected this, but that didn’t stop everyone, including us, from putting together the report.

Hunter saw that and shot down those rumors Wednesday when he discussed the matter with cleveland.com’s Chris Fedor.
“I didn’t say a word to anybody,” Hunter told cleveland.com. “It’s not that I wanted to be traded. It’s not that I didn’t. I was probably as surprised as you were when I saw this article.”
Hunter then told Fedor: “No, why would I want to be traded?” when asked if he wanted to leave Cleveland.

This is consistent with Fedor’s previous reports that the Cavaliers have not had any meaningful trade discussions regarding Hunter.
The Cavaliers have the most expensive roster in the league and are the only team sitting above the second apron. Given their disappointing first half of the season and Hunter’s struggles, it would make sense to move a player like him to the second tarmac so they can better retool in the offseason.
We’ll see what actions, if any, the Cavaliers and their front office take before the February 5th deadline.
Hunter averaged 13.9 points and 4.3 rebounds in 36 games for the Cavaliers, shooting .425/.303/.875 from the field.
