Zombie photojournalist Frank West returns in Dead Rising Deluxe Remastered Edition, a new version of the 2006 game updated for current generation consoles and PC. The remastered project was first announced last week, with a release date confirmed at Tuesday’s Capcom Next showcase. Dead Rising Deluxe Remastered Edition will be available for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X on September 19, and the action-adventure game is now available for pre-order on all platforms.
Publisher Capcom provided a gameplay overview of Dead Rising Deluxe Remastered during its summer showcase, detailing the game’s new features and visual upgrades. Developed on the RE Engine, the remastered game will feature improved graphics, a better control scheme, 3D audio support, and a host of other quality-of-life changes to improve playability. Capcom also confirmed that the game will include text in 14 languages and voice acting in 9 languages.
Dead Rising Deluxe Remastered Features
During Capcom’s presentation, Dead Rising Deluxe Remastered director Ryosuke Murai confirmed that the game will run at 4K resolution and 60fps. The character models in the game have also been overhauled, bringing more details and improvements. The game’s backdrop, Willamette Parkview Mall, has also been repainted with real-time lighting and shadow effects. “All graphics, including characters and environments, have been updated and are vastly improved over the original. Character facial expressions, material textures, and blood splatter all look more realistic,” the game’s description on the Steam page adds.
Quality-of-life improvements to the game include the ability to move while aiming, more intuitive controls, a new autosave feature, and an updated user interface. Murai also confirmed that the remaster will have improved NPC behavior.
This isn’t the first time Dead Rising has been remade. The action-adventure game originally released in 2006 exclusively for the Xbox 360 and was remastered in 2016 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The “Deluxe Remastered Edition” will bring the game to current-gen consoles.
In addition to the Dead Rising deluxe remaster, Capcom also confirmed that it will focus on reactivating dormant IPs that have not released new versions in the near future. “The company is working to further enhance enterprise value by continuing to leverage its rich content library, such as reviving past IP as deluxe remasters, to produce efficient, high-quality games,” the publisher said in a press release.
The digital version of the “Dead Rising” Deluxe Remastered Edition will be available on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series S/X on September 19, and the physical version will be launched in November. The game is available in standard and digital deluxe editions and is currently available for pre-order on all platforms.
