A 6-1 defeat in the first leg significantly reduced their chances of advancing to the quarter-finals, but their fans still applauded them from the sidelines at Bergamo’s New Balance Stadium.
It was this spirit that brought the team to Munich to take on one of the favorites to win the Champions League, bringing almost 4,000 fans to Germany.

“A lot of people came here and even after last week’s game they still supported us which is great and we saw how positive and wonderful our fans are. It’s great to play for them,” Dirk Trare told Sky Sport Italia.
The Belgium international returns to the starting lineup for the first time since sustaining a meniscus injury in the 3-0 Coppa Italia quarter-final win over Juventus on February 5.

“I’m really hungry after being out for a month, which was tough for me, so I want to get back to my level and it’s a good game.”
Atalanta have struggled of late as they are the only Italian team to have played three consecutive games in March and have not recorded a win since beating Borussia Dortmund 4-1 on February 25.
Then there were three draws and two losses in Serie A, Italian Cup and Champions League.
“We said to ourselves that this is a Champions League game and we have to enjoy the night and try to prove that we are capable of making our voice heard,” concluded Dectrale.
