It’s a tumultuous time for every school in college football with the transfer portal open, but especially for the Oregon Ducks, who are balancing roster moves while also getting ready for the postseason and preparing to lose two coordinators. Their performance so far has been excellent as they are currently facing off against the Indiana Hoosiers in the College Football Playoff semifinals.
However, the Ducks had multiple players depart in the transfer portal, one of which was redshirt freshman cornerback Dakota Fields. He revealed his plans to leave in November, and now he’s finally decided on his next school as he seeks more playing time.

Fields has only played in three games this season, so now that he’s heading south to play for the Oklahoma Sooners, he’s looking to take a bigger role and make a bigger impact on defense.
It would be foolish to expect everyone to stay on the team, but this loss is still disappointing for a Ducks team that could use Fields in the future. What’s more, the school was named to the finalist team and had a chance to secure a commitment from elite transfer cornerback Smith Snowden.
Everything is still in flux and Snowden is still in meetings with numerous teams, but adding him will help make up for the loss of Fields. Oregonians should buckle up, though, because this is just the tip of the iceberg.
