Cignetti’s addition comes as Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy continues to shape his offensive lineup. While the team has not officially announced Signetti’s title, Dulac said he will serve in the newly created position, possibly as senior offensive assistant.

Signetti, 60, has decades of college and professional coaching experience. He served as the Green Bay Packers quarterbacks coach under McCarthy in 2018, marking a reunion between the two coaches. His NFL resume also includes stints with the Kansas City Chiefs, New Orleans Saints, San Francisco 49ers, New York Giants and St. Louis Rams, where he served as offensive coordinator in 2015.

At the college level, Cignetti most recently served as offensive coordinator at Indiana University of Pennsylvania through the 2024 season after serving as Pitt’s offensive coordinator through the 2022-23 season. He also served as offensive coordinator at Boston College, Fresno State, North Carolina, Cal and Rutgers. Signetti began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Pitt in 1989.

Frank Jr. is the brother of Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti, who recently led the Hoosiers to a national championship, and his father is a longtime coach at IUP and West Virginia.

Cignetti returns to the NFL for the first time since joining Green Bay. His experience developing quarterbacks and familiarity with McCarthy’s system could be key factors as the Steelers look to improve an offense that has struggled in recent seasons.
