The Indianapolis Colts are one step closer to retaining offensive coordinator Jim Bob Coote.
The Philadelphia Eagles invited Coote to interview for offensive coordinator, a sign that the team is very interested in hiring him.

Coote is familiar with Nick Sirianni, having served as his offensive advisor in 2021. Sean Steichen was also Sirianni’s offensive coordinator before becoming the Colts’ head coach.
However, there are now reports that the Eagles are going in a different direction, hiring Green Bay quarterbacks coach Sean Mannion.
Coote will not eventually join the Eagles, but the New York Giants also plan to interview him, so it is still possible that the Colts still have a vacancy at the offensive coordinator position.
While Coote already holds the title of offensive coordinator with the Colts, one possible difference between that role and the jobs with the Eagles and Giants is that those jobs will come with play-calling duties, giving Coote a boost in responsibility.

This season, the Colts offense ranks eighth in points per game and eighth in yards per game.
Throughout the first half of the season, the Colts had one of the most efficient offenses in football, with a playbook that was difficult to defend.
Coote has held the position with the Colts since 2023.
