Colorado’s basketball game against the Portland State Vikings will still go on as planned Wednesday night, but with one big change: No fans in attendance.
University officials made the difficult choice to play the game behind closed doors due to public safety concerns as winds in Boulder reached 30 mph and there were power outages across the city.

“We apologize for the inconvenience, but for fan safety and to conserve public safety personnel resources, we believe it is in the best interest of our fans and team to play tonight’s game without fans,” a university spokesperson wrote in a statement Wednesday afternoon.
Fans with game tickets will receive a promotional code that will lead to free tickets to CU’s next home game, Sunday, Dec. 28 against Northern Colorado, according to the university.
The good news is that fans can still tune into tonight’s game, just unfortunately not in person. Buffalo’s game against the Vikings will be broadcast live on ESPN+ as usual. The game is scheduled for 7:00 pm local time.
