Colby Covington offers ‘slime bag’ Tyron Woodley shot at redemption

Colby Covington is looking back on his history with Tyron Woodley.

Covington knocked out Woodley via TKO due to injury in the main event of UFC Fight Night 178 in September 2020. Woodley fought one more time in the Octagon before venturing into boxing.

The former welterweight champion lost to Anderson Silva via TKO last Friday at the Kasea Center in Miami, dropping his boxing record to 0-3. Covington, meanwhile, is set to meet Luke Rockhold at RAF 5 Freestyle on January 10 at Amerante Bank Arena in Sunrise, Florida, and he wants Woodley next.

“Damn, Woodley, how strong men fall,” Covington said on his YouTube channel. “I know people like to say, ‘Don’t kick a guy when he’s down.’ That tastes bad. But I personally think this is the perfect time to kick a slime bag like you because you’re more accessible. You guys used to fight for championships. Now, here you are selling your last bit of dignity, taking on YouTube Anchors and old men getting beat up so you can pay off your baby mamas. Instead, you’re face down and ass up, posing in the ring for a Dude Wipes promo.

“I know you have food to eat, Woodley. I know your brand is at an all-time low. We all know you need the money. I’m always here to pick you up when you’re down, Tyron, so let me help you one more time. Quit boxing because you were never a boxer. You is an All-American and Big 12 Wrestling Champion. Come on and compete in the Real American Freestyle Competition, you can take a chance on redemption after I wipe the mat with Luke Rockhold in January and let me put you out of your misery, you know how to contact my guy.”

Covington (17-5 MMA, 12-5 UFC) has not competed in the Octagon since a stoppage loss to Joaquin Barkley in December 2024. The former interim champion is suffering the first loss of his career after losing to Leon Edwards and Barkley.
