A First Division football club has announced a one-off change to its matchday kit after a “fantastic move” by its shirt sponsor.
Northampton Town said the University of Northampton has “donated” space on the club’s jerseys to the Northampton Town Community Trust for Saturday’s home game against Burton Albion.

As part of Cobblers Community Day, the university will break its 13-year sponsorship of the jersey and mark the 25th anniversary of its community trust.
Club chief executive James Whiting said the day would “pay tribute to some of the fantastic work done by the trust”.
Phil Smith, chief executive of Northampton Town Community Trust, added: “We continue to help thousands of people across Northamptonshire in many different ways.
“We look forward to welcoming many participants to the Burton Albion match and using these very special match jerseys to help raise funds to support our work, for which the University of Northampton has been a huge supporter.”

After the game, fans will have the opportunity to bid for a special match shirt, with profits going to the Northampton Town Community Trust.
Saturday’s game is Northampton’s first since sacking manager Kevin Nolan after winning just one of their previous 16 league games.
