Closure of Farmington Public Schools raises questions

FARMINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) – Tuesday’s closure of Farmington Public Schools has neighbors concerned.

Connecticut closures and delays

The parking lot at Farmington High School was empty except for a few snowflakes, school officials said. The severe weather forced school to close.

“The weather wasn’t a big deal, but they still closed the schools,” Mariana Caruso said. “It’s awesome. It’s never been done like this in my time.”

“They’re just afraid to be on the road,” Peter Cistulli said. “They would rather have people stay at home. Now, if it was yesterday, people would be coming out to buy things like milk, bread and staple foods.”

Farmington Public Schools is offering a severe weather plan to pre-registered students. The event continues at West Woods Elementary School until 5 p.m.
