Clemson made a defensive splash late Tuesday in the transfer portal, adding another player to the secondary.
Former Auburn cornerback Donovan Staal has signed with Clemson, according to multiple reports. Starr was a four-star prospect in the 2025 recruiting class and a Clemson target coming out of high school. He took an official visit to campus in June 2024 before ultimately choosing Auburn.

Starr appeared in nine games as a reserve as a freshman, with most of his playing time coming on special teams. Coming out of high school, he ranked among the top players in the country and became the No. 1 recruit in the state of Tennessee, earning more than three dozen scholarship offers.
Starr becomes Clemson’s fourth transfer portal player in the past two days, joining Penn State defensive back Elliott Washington II, Cal linebacker Luke Ferelli and Old Dominion safety Jerome Carter. His addition gives Clemson four transfer commitments in the class, the most the program has ever signed through the transfer portal.
