With no one winning Saturday’s drawing, the Powerball jackpot has grown to more than $1 billion.
But earlier last week, a lottery winner in South Carolina came close to winning a huge jackpot. South Carolina Education Lottery officials said in a news release that people who purchased Powerball tickets during the Central Region’s “Quick Trip” only needed one number to win all the prizes.
For being so close to winning the Powerball jackpot, the person who purchased the ticket will receive a $100,000 bonus, according to a news release.
The search for a winner is now underway.
The $100,000 Powerball game is sold at the Quik Trip gas station/convenience store at 2840 Parksville Highway, according to a news release. That was in the Manning area of Clarendon County.
The winning numbers for the December 10 Powerball drawing were 10, 16, 29, 33, 69, and the Powerball was 22.
Officials said the odds of matching the four white ball numbers with the red ball numbers are 1 in 913,129.
Winners have 180 days to claim their prize, according to lottery officials.
Winners will be allowed to retain some privacy, as South Carolina is one of 11 states that allow lottery winners to remain anonymous, along with Arizona, Delaware, Georgia, Kansas, Maryland, New Jersey, North Dakota, Ohio, Texas and Virginia.
“Sign the back of your ticket and keep it in a safe place until you are ready to claim your prize,” lottery officials said.

When a ticket is claimed, Quik Trip expects to receive a commission on the sale of the winning game.
In addition to the game that won the $100,000 prize, a ticket that won a $50,000 prize was sold at the Pitt Station in Lexington before the Dec. 10 drawing, officials said. Another ticket sold before the CVS drawing in North Charleston also gave the buyer a $100,000 jackpot, according to the release.
With no jackpot winner on Monday night, the jackpot for Saturday’s Powerball drawing has grown to $1.1 billion.
Anyone wishing to purchase tickets must purchase tickets for the 10:59pm draw by 9:59pm on Monday. Tickets are $2, but may be more if there are other options.
The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1 in 293 million.
