OTTAWA, Ontario (AP) — Ottawa defender Thomas Chabot scored twice and the Senators beat Winnipeg 4-2 on Saturday night, sending the Jets losing their ninth straight game.
Late in the second period, after his second goal, Chabot took the puck in the face on Tanner Pearson’s clearance attempt. Chabot immediately came off the ice and returned with a full bubble for the third.

Derek Basson and Claude Giroux also scored, while Levi Merilainen made 20 saves in his third consecutive start. Ottawa improved to 20-15-5.
Adam Lowry and Kyle Connor scored for the Jets, and Connor Hellebuyck made 23 saves. Their record is 0 wins, 6 draws and 3 losses, and their current record is 15 wins, 21 losses and 4 losses.
Ottawa took a 3-1 lead entering the third quarter.
Chabot scored his second of the game early in the second period after grabbing a block and lofting the ball over a stretched Hellebuyck.
Logan Stanley angered Ottawa’s Brady Tkachuk after the two got into an argument on the Winnipeg bench. Stanley took off Tkachuk’s helmet and punched him hard. Stanley received a double minor penalty and Tkachuk received a 10-minute misconduct penalty.

Batherson extended his winning streak to 12 games on a spectacular pass from Tim Stutzle with 17 seconds left in the penalty shootout.
