CD Projekt Red has postponed the next update for Cyberpunk 2077 indefinitely, saying it needs more time to ensure “satisfaction.” Update 2.3 was announced when the RPG launched on Nintendo Switch 2 earlier this month, originally scheduled to launch on June 26. CD Projekt Red has yet to reveal details about the content of the patch, but in the latest update, the studio said that the scope of the update will be similar to the previous update 2.2, which added character customization, photo mode functionality, and more.
Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.3 delayed
The developer confirmed the delay in a post on Monday but did not reveal a new release date for the update.
“We initially hoped to have Update 2.3 available to you on June 26th. However, we need more time to make sure we are happy with it – we are aiming for a similar scope to Update 2.2. We will have further updates available to you as soon as possible!” said the developer.
CD Projekt Red didn’t reveal details about the update when it was announced earlier this month, but it now looks like Update 2.3 will be a pretty big one.
Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.2 will be released in December 2024 on PC and console platforms. This update adds new customization options for player character V and in-game vehicles. It also includes an overhauled photo mode and new interactions with Johnny Silverhand.
On June 5, the 2.3 update was announced during the REDstreams live broadcast of the “Cyberpunk 2077” Nintendo Switch 2 conference. CD Projekt Red associate game director Pawel Sasko said he is personally involved in the update.
“Cyberpunk 2077” is the launch game on Switch 2. According to data from market analysts, the game was the best-selling third-party game on Switch 2 during the new console’s launch, surpassing sales of The Witcher 3 on Switch 1.
