This derby is a must-win game. However, despite the scoreline being 2-0, in typical Rangers fashion we could not see the game go over the line.
We had a great first half. It’s everything you want to see; pressing high, winning the second ball and Celtic’s physical dominance of the pitch. Yusuf Cermiti’s two goals were the icing on the cake.

In the second half we did what we always do, sit back and be reactive rather than proactive.
Submarines didn’t help either. Replacing one striker, Ryan Naderi, helps Celtic’s build-up play as they can get into midfield more easily.
Reo Hatate was allowed to run in the second half because we were so deep. It doesn’t matter if it’s a player, a coach or both.
And the penalty, if it had been at the other end, I would have screamed to be honest. What annoys me even more, however, is that after Butland’s two saves, not a single Rangers player was able to get a rebound.
This is another missed opportunity in a good position. Like the draw with Motherwell, you can’t drop points like this.

The Scottish Cup quarter-finals will be interesting to see how things shake out, but I think by Thursday morning we’ll be chasing Celtic and Hearts.
What a ridiculous situation we have put ourselves in. Considering we’ve seen the Rangers completely collapse before, it’s hard to see anything but this happening again, sadly.
Maybe it’s just the hangover of disappointment, but that’s how I feel. Only Rangers can prove me wrong.
