ENCINITAS, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) – Two vehicles collided on northbound Interstate 5 in Encinitas Friday morning, not far from an area where a semitruck caught fire just after midnight on the opposite side of the highway.
According to California Highway Patrol logs, the two-vehicle collision occurred around 8:30 a.m. near the Birmingham Boulevard exit on northbound I-5
Although the incident temporarily disrupted traffic, traffic on the northbound carriageway was allowed to restart at around 9am

Meanwhile, on the other side of the highway, emergency crews were still clearing the site of a semi-truck fire in the southbound lanes, also near the Birmingham Avenue exit.
A semi-truck fire reported around 12:30 a.m. closed multiple lanes of Highway 5 for several hours.
