Camper infuriated by young couple’s big mistake before leaving their campsite: ‘I was speechless’

Camping should inspire positive feelings with cozy campfires and comfort food. There’s nothing wrong with feeling like a nearby camper is going to start a forest fire. One Reddit user posted about his recent camping trip in Oregon.

The poster shared a video of the beautiful river view campground at Thielsen View Campground in Diamond Lake. However, the scene was chaotic as the campers left. There was still smoldering firewood on the ground next to the fire pit. The poster mentioned how he approached the couple as they left the camp. They justified their mess by saying they poured seven water bottles on it.

“I’m speechless,” the poster said.

Viewers of this video must understand the dangers of impatience when clearing encampments and how to deal with neighbors who don’t follow the rules. Otherwise, there may be no national parks to camp in next season.

In July, fire bans were enacted as there were about 125 wildfires burning in Oregon. Although the poster mentioned that there had been some rain earlier in the week, it wasn’t enough to allay wildfire concerns. He said many campers ignored the ban.

84% of fires in the United States each year are caused by humans. Ignorance of fire regulations can increase the risk of natural disasters and harm wildlife. When creatures see and feel threatened, they may run away in search of safety.

Otherwise, they may harm the camper. Although these animals are defending their homes, families, food, and water sources, animal control may unfairly punish them if they attack campers.

Climate awareness starts with empathy. Everyone must respect nature so that people can enjoy it. The beauty of camping is the connection to the outside world. This wonderful time must inspire campers to protect it and educate those who try to destroy it, inadvertently or unintentionally.

Commenters shared their frustration and gratitude.

“This is why we can’t have anything nice,” one person said.

Another mentioned, “This is some horrifically irresponsible stuff. Fire season is not over yet. Thank you and people like you for understanding the dangers and devastation fires cause to our lands: forests, recreation, jobs, and lives. Some people will never take any personal responsibility, and clearly these two are an example of that.”

“Drown it, stir it, drown it. That’s what Smoke Bear says,” another added.
