Cam Newton rallies Panthers fans in Uptown for playoff game

The Carolina Panthers’ game against the Los Angeles Rams was Bryce Young’s first career playoff game and the Panthers’ first playoff game since 2017.

You can see the excitement among fans across Uptown, many of whom are hoping for a repeat of the 2015 Super Bowl season. The quarterback who helped lead a Super Bowl championship team has fans excited.

Cam Newton banged the “keep banging” drum before kickoff Saturday. Before that, he was seen tailgating the Roaring Riot in Elliot Street. Newton spoke with fans and recorded a podcast episode there. He had some thoughts on the game.

“If Bryce Young can protect the football, give it to Chuba [Hubbard]science [Dowdle]… Opportunistic defense,” Newton said.
