California Golden Bears run back Kendrick Raphael Commitment to transfer to SMU MustangsOn3 has learned. He previously played for North Carolina wolves.
Kendrick Raphael plays high school football in Naples, Florida. There, he was a three-star recruit in the 2023 class. He is the No. 476 overall player and the No. 31 running back overall in this recruiting cycle. Ultimately, he chose to attend North Carolina State University University of South Florida, Floridaand Iowawait.

During his first two collegiate seasons, Rafael became a key cog in NC State’s backfield. There, he started the final three games of the 2023 season but appeared in 11 games total. He then appeared in 12 games as a sophomore. While at NC State, he totaled 734 yards and 5.1 yards per carry. He also had four touchdowns.
After the 2024 season, Rafael hit the transfer portal and landed at Cal. He had a breakout season with the Golden Bears and was named honorable mention to the ACC All-ACC team. He previously rushed for 943 yards, 4.1 yards per carry, and scored 13 touchdowns. This score ranks third in the league in rushing touchdowns. He also had 34 catches for 245 yards and a touchdown.
2025 is Cal head coach’s final season Justin Wilcox. The Golden Bears were 6-5 under him last season before a coaching change. As a team, Cal finished a bowl game with a 7-6 record. Now, Tosh Luboy will be the program’s next head coach. Meanwhile, Kendrick Raphael will transfer.
Meanwhile, SMU is wrapping up its fourth season under head coach Rhett Lashley Ranked second in the ACC. During his tenure, Lashley compiled a 38-16 record. This includes making college football playoff In 2025, the program’s first season will be at the Final Four level.
