Perhaps the most anticipated championship game in Georgia high school football history finally gets underway Tuesday night.

Two nationally ranked 14-0 teams, Buford and Carrollton, will compete for the Class 6A title in the Georgia High School Association championship game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

Buford is 14-0 entering Tuesday’s big game. Earlier in the day, the Wolves were ranked No. 1 in the latest Sporting News Top 25 rankings.
The Wolves are seeking their 15th state championship in franchise history, having won all but one state title this century. They have several players signed with Power 4 conference schools, including Georgia signees Tyreek Green (running back/defensive back) and Graham Houston (offensive lineman), as well as defensive end Dre Quinn (Ohio State) and running back Dylan McCoy (North Carolina State).

Buford defeated Valdosta 39-7 in the semifinals to advance to the championship game.
As for Carrollton, the Trojans moved up to No. 2 in the latest Sporting News Top 25 rankings. Like Buford, Carrollton is 14-0 this season.
A win would give Carrollton its eighth state title in program history, but its first this century.
The Trojans also signed several Power 4 players, such as offensive and defensive lineman Zykie Helton and receiver Ryan Mosley (both from the University of Georgia) and linebacker C.J. Gamble (Georgia Tech).
In the semifinals, Carrollton defeated North Gwinnett 48-21.

This will be the fifth time the Wolves have faced off against the Trojans. Buford leads the series 3-1, although Carrollton won the last game between the two 30-17 in last season’s 6A semifinals.
In addition, this is the first time in 10 years that two undefeated teams in the GHSA’s highest level will play in the Georgia State Championship Game. The Wolves and Trojans are also the two winningest teams in the state over the past five seasons (Carrollton with 65 wins and Buford with 62 wins).
Now, the 6A championship game is finally happening in Atlanta.
