Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes has received his first reward after an amazing season.
could have been so different
This time last year there were plenty of rumors linking Bruno Fernandes with a move to Saudi Arabia. Ultimately, the Portugal international decided to stay at Old Trafford, where he has been hugely influential in United’s resurgence this season.

Fernandez had an outstanding season with 19 league assists and eight goals. These statistics must also be understood in the context of the fact that he played as a holding midfielder during the first half of the season before moving to his usual No. 10 position following the departure of Ruben Amorim in early January.

For his performances, the Football Writers’ Association named the Manchester United captain its Player of the Year.
Fernandes beat Arsenal’s Declan Rice after a vote of 900 sports journalists.
“Congratulations to both players, who will receive their awards at the Footballer of the Year annual dinner in London on May 19,” the association posted on X.
The association’s website also reported on its official website, “In a tight race for football’s oldest and most prestigious individual award, the Portuguese midfielder beat runner-up Declan Rice by 28 votes, with Manchester City’s Erling Haaland in third place.”

Fernandes received 45% of the votes and was the only Manchester United player to be nominated.
Wayne Rooney was the last person to win the award in 2010.
FWA President John Cross commented: “Bruno is on track to break the record and we are excited about his skills.”
Manchester United’s official
Fernandes will now firmly aim to reach his 20th assist of the season when United face Sunderland later today, equaling Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.
