The Atlanta Braves had a chance to defeat the Seattle Mariners, but right-hander J.R. Ritchie’s performance was inconsistent. In his third career start, Leach allowed three runs in five innings, allowing six runs and striking out two.

Despite the Braves’ loss on Monday, first baseman Matt Olson hit a career milestone when he hit his 300th home run in the top of the sixth inning.

Speaking after the game, Olson expressed his excitement for reaching this career milestone but hoped the Warriors could build on it.

“Yeah, obviously, it’s a great milestone, being able to get the ball back,” Olson told Chad Bishop of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “I hope we can build on that and make it a little sweeter. But that’s the one you remember.”

Olson went 1-for-3 with a walk, a strikeout and a run in a 4-5 loss to the Mariners. Three of the Braves’ four runs came on solo home runs. Catcher Derek Baldwin had a single in the top of the first inning and Ozzie Albies had a single in the top of the sixth.

Olson’s homer was his 12th of the season, moving him into the National League lead and tied for third in MLB. The three-time All-Star also leads MLB in RBIs (32) and is tied with Baldwin for the lead in runs (33) and doubles (15).

The three-time Gold Glove winner did all this while maintaining a streak of consecutive appearances.
