Boro boss Hellberg reacts to loss at Derby

Middlesbrough manager Kim Helberg spoke to BBC Radio Tees following Thursday’s 1-0 loss to Derby County.

“To win the first four games after such a start was unbelievable. But to get one point in the next four games without scoring, creating a lot of chances, playing a lot of good football, with the goalkeeper being the man of the match almost every game, it’s painful,” he said.

“Looking at the table, we’re back where we started eight games ago and that’s painful too. Today’s result is painful.”

“Looking at the big picture, we haven’t scored in these four games, but we have created a lot of scoring opportunities. At the moment we are not good enough in terms of scoring goals and we have to be honest about that.

“But we can’t just say ‘this doesn’t go our way’. It doesn’t, but we have to find a way and get better at these things.

“I walk into the locker room and see devastated players. They know it and they carry it on their shoulders. I need to find a way to help them better and that’s my job and my goal.”
