Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix unexpectedly held a season-ending conference call with reporters Wednesday, even though his season ended a week and a half early.
The reason for Knicks’ call seemed clear – he wanted to set the record straight.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter (and others) reported that Nix will be sidelined for approximately 12 weeks after the quarterback underwent season-ending ankle surgery. The Knicks debunked this at the start of the conference call.
“It’s a very quick process, very easy to do,” Nix said. “Just a simple fracture that was fixed. Great surgeon, great care, and I’m on the road to recovery. So, typical fracture – four to six weeks, retraining, ready to roll.
“There’s a lot of different things — you hear a lot of different weeks and speculation when something like this happens, and unfortunately you won’t hear from me for a while, but that’s definitely not an issue this offseason. I’m going to be able to start training at the same time that I’m going to start training, so don’t miss any time.”
The Knicks have reiterated many times that this is a “complete break” with “simple operation” and “simple recovery” with no remaining issues.
The Knicks also disputed claims from head coach Sean Payton, who told reporters on Tuesday that the Knicks were “vulnerable” to injuries and it was only a matter of time.

“Yeah, nothing is predestined, nothing exists initially,” Nix said. “It can be confusing… There aren’t any preset questions.”
This seems to be a confusion in word choice. According to the agency, doctors discovered “pre-existing stress” on the bone that ultimately led to the fracture. denver postLuca Evans. That’s what Payton’s “congenital” comment meant, but the Knicks clarified that it’s not a long-term issue that leaves him vulnerable to injury.
“[N]”There’s nothing that really worries me, nothing that scares me going forward, like I’m injury-prone or anything,” Nix said. “It’s one of those things, just inconvenient football.”
As a result, the recovery time was much shorter than initially reported, and following surgery, Nix’s ankle is no longer a lingering issue (at least not for him). Consider a corrected narrative.
