Big Ten basketball power rankings: Michigan claims top spot

Remarkable results rocked the Big Ten basketball world this week. Just on Saturday, December 6, No. 1 Purdue lost to No. 10 Iowa State at home, Michigan State defeated Rutgers by 41 points, No. 7 Michigan State narrowly lost to No. 4 Duke at home, No. 14 Illinois defeated No. 13 Tennessee on the road, and Wisconsin continued its strong run with a 20-point victory over Marquette.

Those results, coupled with the first wave of conference games, helped solidify the Big Ten’s system heading into January. This impressive conference features four of KenPom’s top 12 teams and 10 of the top 35, led by the dominant Michigan Wolverines.
