Former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger clarified comments he made earlier this month regarding Mike Tomlin’s future with the Steelers. On his podcast, Roethlisberger seemed to suggest that it might be time for the Steelers to move on from Tomlin after this season.

However, Roethlisberger claimed that he was only saying that Tomlin had the right to leave if he wanted to, not that the Steelers should move on from him.
“Just because when I say there’s something new right now, it’s just to say that I think Coach Tomlin — if he wants to move forward, he has every right to move forward, but that’s not what they should be,” Roethlisberger said via ESPN. “It’s up to him, he’s earned that right. If he wants to do something else, he can and he should, whenever that comes, we should respect him. Maybe he wants to coach here for another 10 years, that’s fine too.”
