FC Barcelona are on the lookout for a new centre-back for the upcoming January transfer window.
Andreas Christensen’s injury forced Deco’s sporting department to take action and explore possible options to bolster the backline during a mid-season trade.

The left-footed centre-back will be Barcelona’s first choice target, leading to links with the likes of Marcos Senesi and Nicolas Otamendi.
No interest in Lucas Berardo
However, Barcelona have zero interest in a transfer for Paris Saint-Germain defender Lucas Berardo, who meets the criteria of a player Barcelona want to sign in January, according to Joaquim Piera of Sport.
The 22-year-old is a left-footed defender capable of playing as a centre-back or left-back, has some experience at this level and has struggled to find playing time at PSG this season.
As a result, there are rumors that the Brazilian could leave in the upcoming winter transfer window.

Despite this, Barcelona never considered asking PSG to sign Berardo on loan.

While there is a good personal relationship between the two clubs’ sporting directors Deco and Luis Campos, at an institutional level the relationship between Laporta and Nasser Al-Khelaifi has also improved significantly.
As mentioned, PSG have been searching for a January home for the 22-year-old Brazil international.
Berardo’s future has always pointed to Türkiye, with both Galatasaray and Besiktas showing interest. At the same time, in Brazil, two major clubs, Flamengo and Palmeiras, are also willing to compete for his signing.

In recent days, however, things have changed radically for Berardo. PSG boss Luis Enrique blocked his departure amid a series of injuries within the squad. His stay in Paris has now been guaranteed until at least June.
Regardless of these developments, Berardo has never been considered a potential January loan target for Barcelona, who continue to be in the market for reinforcements.
