Auburn basketball remains outside the latest AP Poll

The Associated Press Poll released its ninth week of college basketball polls on Monday, Jan. 5, and Auburn basketball fell even further. The Tigers remain outside the top 25 after losing to the Georgia Bulldogs on the road.

Auburn received just three votes total this week, 36 fewer than the week before. Georgia moved up five spots from No. 23 to No. 18.

The SEC has five teams represented overall, No. 21 Tennessee, No. 18 Georgia, No. 15 Arkansas, No. 13 Alabama and No. 11 Vanderbilt. The only team to fall outside the league’s top 25 is Florida State, which dropped from No. 22.

Auburn lost to Georgia 104-100 in overtime on Saturday. Auburn guard Tahad Pettiford scored a team-high 25 points as the team posted a 10-21 record. The Tigers didn’t have an answer for Georgia linebacker Jeremiah Wilkinson.

The Tigers next play the Texas A&M Aggies on Tuesday, Jan. 6 at home, and they will face the 15th-ranked Arkansas Razorbacks at home on Saturday, Jan. 10.
