During testimony before the House Oversight Committee, billionaire Les Wexner got some blunt advice from his lawyers about his relationship with convicted criminal Jeffrey Epstein.
Perhaps a little tired of Wexner’s long answers and meandering anecdotes, the lawyer leaned forward and offered a warning that probably shouldn’t be heard by the microphone.

“If you answer another question with more than five words, I will kill you, okay?” the lawyer said with a smile.

Wexner is facing new scrutiny after his name appeared more than 1,000 times in newly released Epstein documents. In addition, late Epstein victim Virginia Giuffre claimed that she was trafficked to Wexner and others.
Wexner has denied any wrongdoing and said Epstein deceived him.

“I think it’s really important for this group to understand that when I look back on it, I was lied to by this liar in the history of the world’s Olympics,” Wexner said. He also described Epstein as an “incredible con artist.”
The New York Times reported in 2019 that Wexner gave Epstein “sweeping authority over his finances, philanthropy and personal life,” including full power of attorney to act on his behalf. Wexner also told Vanity Fair in 2003 that Epstein had “excellent judgment and exceptionally high standards” and was “always a most loyal friend.”
But in testimony this week, Wexner claimed he never considered Epstein a close friend.
“I don’t see Jeffrey as a friend. I see Jeffrey the same way I see my attorney, Matt,” he said, pointing to another attorney. “We’re friendly, but we’re not friends.”
