Asus ROG Xbox Ally Briefly Listed on Amazon Ahead of Imminent Launch Date Announcement

The Taiwanese company’s upcoming handheld gaming console Asus ROG Xbox Ally has reportedly been listed on an e-commerce website, along with the key specifications of the yet-to-launch handheld computer. A few weeks ago, European prices for Xbox-branded handheld consoles leaked online. Microsoft is expected to announce the launch date of Asus ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X during Gamescom 2025, which kicks off on August 20. Both handheld consoles were earlier expected to launch in Europe in October this year.

Asus ROG Xbox Ally Amazon microsite hints at imminent arrival

The Verge’s Tom Warren revealed in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that a microsite for the ROG Xbox Ally has been released on Amazon. The microsite has been taken down after suggesting the company was preparing to launch the handheld computer soon. The Redmond company is expected to announce its release date during the Gamescom 2025 event starting on August 20. Recent news suggests that the handheld device will debut on October 16th.

According to a recent report, the Asus ROG Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X prices in Europe start at €599 (roughly Rs. 61,236) and €899 (roughly Rs. 91,906) respectively. Asus teamed up with Microsoft to develop the handheld computer, but neither company has confirmed a release date.

Microsoft first launched the Asus ROG Xbox Ally on June 8, powered by the AMD Ryzen Z2 A chipset, equipped with up to 16GB of LPDDR5 dual-channel RAM (up to 6,400Mhz) and up to 512GB of expandable onboard storage. It comes with PCIe Gen 4 M.2 2280 SSD. It comes with a 7-inch Full HD LCD screen with a peak brightness of 500 nits and a refresh rate of 120Hz. It should be noted that handheld computers cannot run Xbox console games.

The upcoming ASUS ROG Xbox Ally will also feature Armory Crate SE, which pairs with the Xbox Game Bar button for quick access to adjust the handheld’s settings based on the game the user is playing. It comes with a 60Wh capacity battery.

The Xbox-branded handheld computer runs on Windows, unlike Valve’s Steam Deck, which runs on Linux-based SteamOS. It also features a “contoured grip.” The handheld computer features ABXY buttons inspired by the colors of the Xbox controller. Additionally, the joysticks are placed similarly to an Xbox controller.
