Arkansas State Representative Stan Berry dies at 71

Arkansas Rep. Stan Berry dies at age 71.

Rep. Berry, who represents District 44, is serving his seventh term in the Arkansas House of Representatives. During the 95th General Assembly, Rep. Berry served on several committees, including the House Public Transportation Committee, the House State Agencies and Governmental Affairs Committee, and the Legislative Joint Audit Committee.

Rep. Berry previously served in the National Guard and served as a member of the Dover School Board, Dover City Council and the Tri-County Water Commission.

He attended Arkansas Tech University and Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Dover. He is survived by his wife Mona, four children and nine grandchildren.

“Brian and I extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Rep. Stan Berry. Stan was a staunch conservative, a patriotic veteran, a faithful Christian, a loving husband, father and grandfather. It was my pleasure to join him in serving the people of the Valley and throughout Arkansas and working to make our state a better home. My condolences go out to Stan’s wife Mona, his children and grandchildren, and all of his neighbors and family friends,” said Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

Speaker Brian S. Evans issued the following statement regarding Rep. Berry’s passing:

“I was heartbroken to learn of the passing of Rep. Stan Berry. He was more than a colleague to me, he was a true friend and someone I truly enjoyed being around. Stan loved Arkansas and the people of the 44th District. You could see it in the way he served and the way he treated everyone he met – with kindness, sincerity and a sense of humor.

My heart goes out to his wife Mona, his children and his grandchildren, whom he spoke of often and loved dearly. Please keep them in your prayers in the days ahead.

He will be greatly missed – not just in the Chamber, but by all of us who were lucky enough to know him. “
