Embark Studios’ hit extraction shooter Arc Raiders will be getting several new maps this year, the developer has confirmed. The Swedish studio has unveiled the game’s 2026 roadmap and said it is finalizing a content update cadence for the coming year. Embark is also exploring ways to “drive the experience forward” in Arc Raiders through gameplay.
Arc Raiders is getting a new map coming soon
The studio has yet to reveal its plans for the exit shooter in 2026, but Arc Raiders design lead Virgil Watkins has revealed some expectations for the game’s 12 million players. In an interview with GamesRadar+, Watkins said that more maps will be released in Arc Raiders this year.
“There will be multiple maps coming out this year and I think it will be across a variety of sizes to try and promote different types of gameplay,” he said. “So you might see something smaller than what we have now and you might see something grander than what we have now.”
The developer also said that Embark will “soon” share part of its roadmap for the coming months, detailing all the new content coming to Arc Raiders. He added that the studio is currently deciding on the cadence of various updates.

Embark on an exploration of the expanded Arc Raiders experience
Watkins said that in addition to adding new content such as maps, weapons and Arc robots, Embark is exploring how to drive the Arc Raiders experience through gameplay and player interaction. Some fans are calling for bigger changes to the game to expand the player experience. These include making the underground hub world of Speranza an interactive and explorable area where players can meet and potentially trade with other players online.
“Some of it is a reaction to the things you’re talking about here, like how players are actually engaging with the game and what they’re doing,” Watkins told GamesRadar+, “but for us, a lot of it is trying to see how we can push the experience forward,” he added.
“Of course, adding a new map has its own unique novelty, it’s a new place to play. But what else? Thematically, gameplay-wise. How do the enemies and items and experiences in that map point to something? It’s kind of like putting together something that’s thematically cohesive and feels like, ‘Oh, guys, Arc Raiders just rolled out whatever update it is. Let’s go check it out.’ That’s the template we’re trying to lay out over the next few months,” the developer said.
Arc Raiders launches in October 2025 and includes four maps – Dam Battlefield, Buried City, Spaceport and Blue Gate – as well as a practice range. The fifth map, “Stella Montis,” is part of the November update.
Embark has yet to share a 2026 roadmap for Arc Raiders. However, the studio released update 1.11.0 last week, which added a new set of cosmetics to the game, along with rebalancing some weapons and fixing some bugs.
The developer also confirmed that “Arc Raiders” has sold more than 12 million copies on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series S/X. The shooter also hit nearly 1 million concurrent players across all platforms in January.
