This weekend’s weather forecast continues to fluctuate, and now local meteorologists are using the “B” word.
National Weather Service Green Bay meteorologist Mike Seliti said the area will see a “near blizzard” on March 14 and 15. Strong winds could reach around 40 mph. In addition, some wind and snow may continue until March 16.
As of March 12, Celletti said Appleton has an 80 percent chance of receiving 12 inches or more of snow in the weekend storm.
“This is a fairly complex forecast and the forecast may change in the coming days,” Celletti said.
Rain will start tonight but won’t last long. Snow may mix with rain at night. Accumulation in the Fox Valley overnight could be as high as two inches. Seliti said southern areas near Oshkosh will see half an inch and northern Outagamie County will see two inches. There is currently a wind warning in place for the area from midnight to 6pm on March 13.
“If you have any travel plans, be sure to monitor the weather forecast and adjust your plans if necessary,” Celletti said.
