This latest version is no exception, with Apple giving users more than 20 reasons to update their devices immediately, as bugs associated with previous versions could make iPhone users an easy target in some cases. While Apple says these bugs are fixed before they can be exploited by bad actors, it’s important to install iOS 26.2 now so these patches can be applied as quickly as possible.
For example, one of the bugs fixed in iOS 26 is related to the App Store, where a permissions issue could allow an app to access sensitive payment tokens. The bug, which may affect any iPhone or iPad supporting iOS 26, was discovered by ByteDance engineers.

iOS 26.2 resolves a number of security issues that have arisen on Apple devices. For example, an anonymous researcher discovered that it was possible to bypass authentication in a hidden photo album. This folder has been around for a few years and is a great way to hide images you don’t want others to see (including password screenshots, etc.).
Fixed a similar bug where apps were able to access sensitive user data through the Messages app. Apple said it was able to add improved privacy controls to prevent apps from seeing information they shouldn’t.
The company also fixed nine bugs related to WebKit, one of the most important parts of the iPhone. After all, WebKit handles everything you click on online. If there are errors, attackers can theoretically steal your data and third-party companies can track you online. That said, if you’re running any version of iOS prior to 26.2 and you have a compatible device, you should update now.
