Alien: Isolation sequel confirmed
The news is part of a message to fans to celebrate the game’s tenth anniversary. On Monday, the game’s creative director Al Hope thanked players in a post on the official Alien: Isolation X account, calling the survival horror game a “dream project.” Fans have been calling for an Alien: Isolation sequel for years.
“On our 10th anniversary, it seems only fitting to let you know that we hear your distress calls loud and clear,” Hope said in the message. “Today, on behalf of the team, I’m pleased to confirm that a sequel to Alien: Isolation is in early development. We look forward to sharing more details with you when we’re ready.”
The creative director didn’t provide any details about the game or its release schedule, and the sequel doesn’t have an official title yet. But players can expect Alien: Isolation 2 to retain the atmosphere and tension of the first game.
“Alien: Isolation” is set 15 years after the first “Alien” movie and tells the story of Amanda Ripley, the daughter of the film’s protagonist Ellen Ripley, as she investigates the disappearance of her mother on the Sevastopol space station. However, the space station is threatened by aliens, and players must use motion trackers to sneak around and avoid detection, and ultimately defeat the aliens with limited weapons. Alien: Isolation was critically acclaimed for its intense survival horror gameplay.
Since official confirmation, Alien: Isolation – The Collection, which includes the base game and all seven add-on packs, has been discounted by 85% on various platforms including Steam and the Epic Games Store; the offer ends later today.
Alien: Isolation first launched on October 7, 2014 on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC. The game was ported to Nintendo Switch in 2019 and to iOS and Android in 2021.
