The relationship between The Young Bucks and Jurassic Express has been a tortuous one, as the two pairs have found themselves on both the same and opposite ends of the spectrum in AEW. At AEW Full Gear 2025, the two regained synchronicity after fighting off a post-match attack from Don Callis Family. A month ago, The Young Bucks and the Jurassic Express squared off in a tag team match at WrestleDream for a $500,000 prize.

During a previous appearance on The Takedown on SI before WrestleDream, The Young Bucks looked back at their history with Jurassic Express’s Jake Perry and Luchasaurus. “I think the last time we actually wrestled them was in the same arena. It’s kind of crazy and complete because I think that was in 2022,” Nick Jackson said. “But like Matt said, it’s been two or three years. That was one of my favorite Dynamite matches, so we’re going to try to top that because that’s how we do pay-per-view.”

As Nick mentioned, he and Matt Jackson previously defeated Jurassic Express in a ladder match at Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis in June 2022 to become the AEW World Tag Team Champions. The same venue also hosted a cash match at WrestleDream 2025.

For Matt Jackson, another recent Tag Team Championship match between them has been a source of motivation. “I went to watch the three-way tag between us and them and Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly. Man, I forgot how much I loved that match. It’s one of my favorite matches of all time. Yeah, it was really good. I watched it while I was doing cardio this morning and got a little inspiration,” Matt said of the three-way tag that took place at AEW Revolution 2022.

Matt Jackson says ‘Jurassic Express’ reunion ‘feels good’

After three years apart, Jack Perry and Luchasaurus officially reunited as Jurassic Express at the 2025 AEW All Out pay-per-view, with the latter saving the former from further defeat by The Young Bucks. Although Matt and Jackson had an on-screen feud at the time, they both agreed that the reunited duo would be a positive for all of Elite Wrestling and its fans.

“It was OG who originally built the company,” Nick said. “So to have them on pay-per-view in a big venue, I feel like it’s going to be beneficial not only for the wrestlers, but for the fans that have invested years and years of watching these shows.”

“I think it creates this warm feeling, this feeling of being at home,” Matt added. “It’s like, ‘Oh, these are the guys I saw for the first time.'” What’s interesting is that people are still like, “Well, there’s a new company.” But we actually just celebrated six years now, so we have enough history now, rich enough history, that wrestlers feel nostalgic in a way… We also have a lot of new fans who maybe didn’t watch initially, but they’ve heard stories or seen old clips. I think it’s fun for them because now they can relive the past. These two together, I don’t know what it is, it just feels good. “

At WrestleDream, Jurassic Express defeated Matt and Nick (and received $500,000) in a “Countdown to Extinction” match. Today, Matt and Nick have been away from any events for an undisclosed amount of time. Meanwhile, Perry competed in the 2025 Continental Classic, defeating Mike “Speedball” Bailey and Death Knight PAC. It remains to be seen whether the four will continue to be on friendly terms into 2026.
