Hellen Obiri set a new women’s record and South Africa’s Adriaan Wildschutt provided a surprise for the men in New York’s biggest ever half-time match on Sunday.
Obiri finished the Pro Women’s race in 1:06:33, adding the New York Half to her list of wins and breaking the course record by 30 seconds. She also set a record by winning the New York City Marathon in 2025. Two years ago, she became the first woman in 34 years to win the Boston and New York City Marathons in the same calendar year.

South African distance runner Wildschute emerged victorious in the men’s professional race, winning in 59 minutes and 30 seconds, running in New York City for the first time.

Daniel Romanchuk won the men’s professional wheelchair marathon championship with a time of 48 minutes and 10 seconds. The American also won the 2018, 2019 and 2024 New York City Marathon.
England’s Eden Rainbow-Cooper won the women’s professional wheelchair race with a final time of 54 minutes and 27 seconds. She began competing in wheelchair racing in 2013, inspired by former TCS New York City Marathon champion David Weir’s four gold medals at the 2012 London Paralympics.

A record 30,229 athletes crossed the finish line at the 2026 United New York Half. The race set a record as the largest half marathon in the history of the event and NYRR, as well as the largest half marathon in the country. This 13.1-mile park-to-park course starts near Prospect Park and then crosses the Brooklyn Bridge (the only time the race has ever done so), past Grand Central Terminal and through Times Square, one of only two traffic jams of the year at the crossroads of the world.
The United New York Half, presented by New York Road Runners, is the premier half marathon in the world and the largest half marathon in the United States. Sunday’s competitors include 26 Olympians and Paralympians, 16 national record holders, 10 global medalists and athletes from 17 countries.
