On December 5, 2025, “The Tormentor” Enkh-Orgil Baatarkhuu stepped inside the legendary walls of Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, and defeated “Wonder Boy” Fabricio Andrade to win the ONE Bantamweight MMA World Championship and create history for his motherland.
Batalhu became the second Mongolian athlete in history to win a world championship, following his legendary mentor and former featherweight mixed martial arts king Narantongalag “Tonga” Jadamba.

The 37-year-old performer’s performance was so exciting that he also met with Mongolian President Khürelsukh.
Pride of the prairie
The meeting between the newly crowned ONE Bantamweight MMA World Champion and his country’s leader was more than just a formal ceremony. This is the ultimate validation of the journey that began at the Khovd coal mines.
For Baatarkhuu, who spent 16 years in the amateur ranks before reaching the global stage, the recognition was overwhelming.
He is a man who has looked down on the most dangerous forwards on the planet, but the halls of the Government Palace provide a unique kind of pressure – one that reflects the intensity of the world title race:
“I am very happy and grateful that the President of Mongolia met specifically to congratulate me. This is a proud moment in my life. Not everyone can experience this and receive this recognition. This is a great moment.
“It feels like it was before I even entered the circle. It’s a strange feeling, a mix of emotions. There’s nervous energy, pride and inspiration.”
historic achievement
To understand why the president would call a bantamweight MMA fighter to Ulaanbaatar, we have to look at the scale of the victory itself.

Entering ONE Fight Night 38, Andrade had an invincible aura. The Brazilian has swept through the division with his fearsome striking, proven submission defense, and all-around offensive weaponry that can destroy anyone.
Bataku enters this fight as the underdog in every sense of the word. But the Mongolian style has always been based on the unbreakable will of their ancestors.
Throughout the fight, he withstood Andrade’s accurate punches with an iron chin and relentless forward pressure. When the fourth round hit 1:33, it signaled a changing of the guard.

By submitting Andrade, “The Tormentor” proved that hard work and dedication are enough to defeat the most dominant world champions.
This was a victory for ordinary workers and the Mongolian nation, which had waited 11 years to see another of their sons stand at the top of the martial arts world.
the power of a country
During the meeting, President Khürelsukh praised Batarku for “showing the world the courage, endurance and strength of Mongolian athletes.” These are not just polite words. They are designations of responsibility.
But the president didn’t stop there. He issued a mandate for the MMA star to understand that as a world champion, he is now an ambassador for the Mongolian spirit on the global stage.

The ONE Bantamweight MMA World Champion admitted:
“I don’t take those words lightly. It gives me a huge motivation to work harder and get better in every area. That’s a huge motivation for me.
“He told me that it was now my responsibility to work harder and keep going. That was a lot of motivation for me. It was like I was carrying out a mission as the top official in Mongolia.”
moments worth cherishing
For an MMA fighter whose career has been characterized by repetition and quiet hard work, meeting Chairman Khürelsukh provided a rare moment of self-reflection.
This recognition is further bolstered by his recent crossover success on Netflix’s Physical: Asia, where he demonstrated to a global audience his mettle to overwhelm his opponents in dogfights.
As Batakuhu enters 2026 as the bantamweight king, he’s no longer just fighting for himself. He fought under the orders of the President and the expectations of the people:
“In that moment, just that moment, I was really proud of myself. Because I had really worked hard for this for years, and after all of this, the president of Mongolia recognized my success. That was a moment that I really cherished.”
The rough upbringing in his youth may have forged his iron, but recognition of his motherland sharpened the blade.

If his track record is any indication, he intends to complete a mission with the same relentless pursuit that brought him a gold medal.
