A.J. Staton-McCray scores 18 to help Seton Hall beat Rutgers 81-59

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — AJ Staton-McRae scored 18 points and Seton Hall beat Rutgers 81-59 on Saturday night in the Garden State Hardwood Classic.

Adam Clark added 16 points for Seton Hall (10-1), which has won four straight and is off to its best start since the 2011-12 season. Elijah Fisher and Najai Hines each scored 10 points.

Harun Zrno scored 15 points to lead Rutgers (5-6). Dylan Grant had 12 points and 6 rebounds. Lino Mack scored 10 points.

Seton Hall opened the game with an 11-0 run and led 35-21 at halftime. Staton McCray scored 12 points in the first half. Mack led Rutgers with eight points and shot 27 percent (6-for-22) from the field in the first half.

Clark scored 14 points in the second half, and the Pirates shot 64.5% (20 of 31).

This is the 76th meeting in this series. Since 2014, the Buccaneers have won seven of 11 games. Seton Hall’s last win in the series was a 45-43 victory over Jersey on December 11, 2022
