Richard Hughes has been a controversial figure since arriving on Merseyside.

Of course, two of the trio did sign extensions with the Reds, with Hughes subsequently leading Liverpool into one of their most ambitious summer transfer windows ever.

Morton has made 43 appearances for France this season, quickly becoming one of their most important players and being hailed as one of the best midfielders in the league.
The 23-year-old has been a cornerstone of Lyon’s midfield and it is now clear that selling him for at least £15m would be a huge mistake.
Lyon have faced well-documented financial problems in recent seasons and a strong offer from Liverpool to re-sign Morton may be difficult to refuse.
Hughes should definitely give the academy graduate a chance to return to his old club and prove himself as an important first-team player.

Liverpool are likely to need reinforcements in midfield, with the futures of Curtis Jones, Wataru Endo and Alexis McAllister all uncertain.
Morton will also fill a homegrown role for the Reds, a key factor Hughes and his squad will need to consider this summer.
The 23-year-old already knows the club well and needs no time to adapt, so bringing back Morton this summer would be excellent business.
