For the Blues, it was their seventh defeat in their last seven Wembley finals as the wait for a first domestic trophy since 2018 continues.

What Wesley Fofana is trying to do full-time in the FA Cup final

Chelsea started Reece James and Levi Colwell, while Marc Cucurella continued on the left wing and Pedro Neto and Alejandro Garnacho were only suitable as substitutes.

The Blues held their own in the game and didn’t trouble City too much, with James Trafford not even having to make a save.

Chelsea only had one shot on target in what could only be another disappointing performance at Wembley.

Throughout the game, the players were visibly disappointed, waiting to receive their runners-up medals and watching City receive their winners’ medals.

However, talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook said that as City prepared to collect their medal, he saw Fofana trying to lead his teammates back to the dressing room before Cole Palmer called them back onto the pitch to watch City lift the trophy.
