DENVER (AP) — Randy Vazquez pitched seven scoreless innings to help the San Diego Padres beat the Colorado Rockies 1-0 on Tuesday night.
The win was the Padres’ 14th in their last 16 games after starting the season 2-5. They improved to 15-3 since starting last season against the Rockies and have defeated the Rockies seven times in a row.

Vazquez (2-0) is coming off his worst start to the new season — he allowed four runs in four innings against Seattle on April 15 — allowing just three hits, striking out five and walking no walks.
After Rockies starter Chase Dollander (2-2) loaded the bases in the sixth inning and walked Manny Machado with two outs, Jake Cronenworth scored the game’s only run. This was Doland’s only walk. He struck out nine in six innings and threw a career-high 102 pitches.
Adrián Morejón pitched a perfect ninth to earn his first save of the season and sixth of his eight-year MLB career. The Padres turned to Morejon instead of usual closer Mason Miller, who had 32 2/3 scoreless innings.
After Hunter Goodman’s single in the fourth inning, Padres pitchers retired the final 18 Colorado batters.
