MILWAUKEE (AP) — William Contreras hit the only infield pitch of a two-run standoff in the eighth inning as the Milwaukee Brewers snapped a six-game skid with a 2-1 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday night.
Toronto squandered a stellar performance from Dylan Seth, who struck out six and allowed two hits and three runs in six scoreless innings.

Milwaukee ended its longest losing streak since 2023 with some good luck in Game 8.
David Hamilton led off the inning with an infield single. Hamilton hit the ball less than halfway to the left side of the infield, and pitcher Tyler Rogers (1-1) couldn’t catch the ball with his bare hands.
Sal Frilick then hit a high bouncer and catcher Brandon Valenzuela mishandled the ball after it landed right in front of home plate. Valenzuela’s errors put runners in first and second.
Contreras followed with a single to right, scoring Hamilton and advancing Frilick to third. Frelick took the lead when Brice Turang hit a touchdown hit from a chopper that bounced over Rogers’ head.

Milwaukee’s Chad Patrick tied a career high in 6 2/3 innings, allowing just one run and three hits. He struck out two and walked two.
Toronto scored in the first inning. Daulton Varsho drew a one-out walk, advanced to third on a right-base hit by Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and drove home on a sacrifice fly from Jesús Sánchez.
The Blue Jays left two runners on in the seventh and eighth inning. Aaron Ashby (4-0) struck out Myles Straw, stranding runners on first and second in the eighth.
