Living on the fringes of Major League Baseball can be tough.

Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Austin Voss is the latest example.
The Blue Jays acquired Voss after spending spring training with the Chicago White Sox, and he made his Toronto debut over the weekend.
Voss went 2.2 innings, allowed one run, and got valuable outs for a tired Blue Jays pitching staff.
On Monday, though, Voss was assigned the assignment.
This means he is removed from the 40-man roster and another team can claim him off waivers.
The Blue Jays can only send Vos to Class 3A Buffalo if he clears waivers.
The 33-year-old, 6-foot-2 right-hander was originally a fifth-round pick of the Washington Nationals in the 2013 MLB Draft.

Since then, he has appeared in 208 MLB games between the Nats, Orioles, Mariners and Blue Jays. Of these, 39 games were started.
Voss is still a tall guy, even if he won’t be in the MLB starting rotation.
Prior to that, he last pitched in the majors in 2024 with Seattle, where he posted a 3.69 ERA in 68 games.
Over the course of his MLB career, Voss has struck out 8.5 batters per nine innings and allowed 3.2 batters per nine innings, both passable rates.
Someone will probably give him a chance. The Blue Jays need to bring in new blood to the bullpen, and the only way to do that is by DFA Voth. So now they risk losing him.
