3 things to know about new 49ers punter Corliss Waitman

The San Francisco 49ers may have to replace their entire kicking battery this offseason, with Eddie Pineiro, Jon Weeks and Tomas Morstead all set to become free agents. However, after re-signing Pineiro and Vickers, they just have a hole in the room.

Instead of extending Morstead for another year, the 49ers signed Corliss Wittman as their bet for the 2026 season in the first two weeks of the new league year.

When Corliss was born in 1995, Whiteman’s father was playing basketball in Belgium. They moved to Holland and eventually landed in Florida when Whiteman Jr. was 15. Although he initially played football, he switched to football at Milton High School in Milton, Florida.

In 2020, Wittman signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers as an undrafted free agent and played three seasons with the team. He also signed with the Las Vegas Raiders, New England Patriots, Denver Broncos and Chicago Bears at different times over six years.

In 52 career games, he placed 230 bets. Averaged 46.4 yards per punt, 41.7 net yards per punt. 36.5% of Wittman’s punts landed inside the opposing team’s 20-yard line.
