The Arizona Cardinals added a new member to the free agent market, signing former Philadelphia Eagles offensive lineman Matt Pryor to a one-year contract, reports surfaced on Tuesday. The initial reaction is that the Cardinals have found the right tackle to replace Jonah Williams. Others wonder if he will be slated to be the starting guard.

He has 40 career starts, 25 at linebacker, and in 2024 he is the starting right guard for the Chicago Bears.

However, given the size of his one-year contract, there should be no hope of starting.

Pryor received a one-year, league-minimum contract worth just under $1.3 million.

Pryor is a seasoned veteran who has played every position on the offensive line except center. He has appeared in 109 career games, including 40 starts.

But he shouldn’t be considered the answer to the Cardinals’ current deficiencies at right tackle or potentially at linebacker. He could start, but he won’t do much more than compete for a roster spot.
