Former MLB player Mark Teixeira wins Republican House primary race in Texas

Former MLB slugger Mark Teixeira won the Republican primary in Texas’ 21st Congressional District on Tuesday night.

Teixeira heads into the November general election, where he will compete against Democratic candidate Kristin Hook to replace U.S. Rep. Chip Roy, who is running for Texas attorney general.

Teixeira, 45, who was born and raised in Maryland and lives near Austin, Texas, began his campaign by saying he was “ready to fight for Texas families, conservative principles and an America First agenda.”
