Stars beat Canucks 6-1 to extend winning streak to a franchise-record 9 games

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — LeAnn Bixell scored twice and the Dallas Stars defeated the Vancouver Canucks 6-1 on Monday night.

Colin Blackwell, Jason Robertson and Matt Duchene each scored a goal and assisted once for the Stars (37 wins, 14 draws and 9 losses), extending the winning streak to nine consecutive games in team history.

Adam Ern scored a goal for Dallas, and Miro Heiskanen and Sam Steele each had two assists. Jake Oettinger made 13 saves.

The Canucks scored first midway through the first quarter when Jake DeBrusk dribbled into the offensive zone and fired a shot off Oettinger’s right pad. Evander Kane deflected the rebound from the side of the net for his 11th goal of the season.

Nikita Tolopilo stopped 31 of 37 shots he faced in Vancouver’s net, handing the Canucks their sixth straight loss (0-4-2).

The Canucks took the lead on Kane’s goal at 7:57 of the first period, but their offense stalled as Vancouver made just four shots in the second period.

Dallas took the lead 8:31 into the second period when Ilya Lyubushkin passed the ball to Bichsel, who fired a wrist shot over Tolopilo’s shoulder to make it 2-1.

Heiskanen extended his point streak to six games and dished out nine assists.

The Canucks haven’t scored a power-play goal since Jan. 27 and are 0-for-13 in their past seven games.
