Goals from Farès Chaïbi and Jean-Mattéo Bahoya sealed a resounding win for Frankfurt, who now move above Freiburg into seventh place. However, Alberto Riera wasn’t entirely convinced of his team’s performance.

“Congratulations to my team,” Riera began his press conference with a positive comment. “The players improved on their performance in the second half in Munich and despite being 3-0 down, they stuck to our plan. That was an important signal for me.

“We won, but it’s not perfect. We can still improve. I will discuss what I mean with the players behind closed doors. I want the players to get better. They should enjoy the game and be happy with the ideas we give them.”

Riera singled out Nnamdi Collins and Nathanael Brown’s position changes in the second half to make his point, before providing an update on the early events of the game. “We have to pray for Kaua Santos,” the Spaniard said of the injured goalkeeper.

“We will know more on Monday. Michael Zeitler was ready immediately. Like other players, he just wants to help the team. Every player needs to know that he is important to the team and that the time will come.”
