Ubisoft’s 2023 action-adventure game Avatar: Pandora’s Frontier will receive a new update later this year that will add a third-person mode, New Game+ and other improvements. The free update will be released on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series S/X on December 5th. “Avatar: Pandora’s Frontier” is adapted from James Cameron’s film series. The game is played from a first-person perspective and emphasizes shooting and exploration.

Avatar: Pandora Frontline Updates

Ubisoft announced the new third-person update in a developer update video on Monday. Developer Massive Entertainment has confirmed that the December 5th update – almost two years after the game’s release – will also include the New Game+ mode.

“On December 5th, we will release a free update that includes two of the most requested features by the community,” Avatar: Pandora Frontier creative director Omar Bouali said in the update.

“The first New Game+, lets you replay the story using your inventory and skills, face tougher enemies and unlock new skill trees and stronger gear.

“Finally, yes, we are very excited to introduce a third-person perspective that allows you to experience Pandora from a whole new perspective at the touch of a button.”

The update video shows off snippets of third-person gameplay that will be available to players once the update rolls out. The developers say players will be able to experience the game in third-person, engaging in combat and exploration simultaneously. Massive Entertainment has also redesigned the animations, controls, audio and camera systems for the new third-person mode.

“We’ve always envisioned Avatar: Pandora’s Frontier as a living world that evolves with our players,” Bouali was quoted as saying in an announcement on Ubisoft’s website. “This update is a celebration of the passion of our community, and we’re grateful to our players for their support. It means the world to our team.”

“Avatar: Pandora’s Frontier” previously updated

The free update will be released ahead of Avatar: Fire and Ash, the third film in the series and sequel to 2022’s Avatar: Waterfall, which opens in theaters on December 19.

In addition to the update, Ubisoft also announced a limited-time 70% discount on the game in supported storefronts (via Steam, Ubisoft Store, and Epic Games Store) on consoles and PC.

Avatar: Pandora’s Frontier has previously received two story expansions – Skybreaker and Secret of the Spire – as well as a number of quality-of-life updates that rebalanced the game’s combat, added a 40 fps mode, and more.

The action-adventure game releases on December 7, 2023 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X.
